The ministry represented by the General Directorate of Information Technology - Initiatives Support Section ? played a major role in supporting the educational Astronomical Observatory. In the 2008 a request was made to adopt the activity of the observatory officially, to supporting the Observatory with modern systems to allow it to excel in its performance, and immediately, the section addressed the companies for support. The reply came soon came from the Oman LNG approval to support the Observatory. The value of these devices cost a total of twenty-five thousand riyals paid from the company.
Recently, initiatives support section provided the astronomical observatory with modern imaging camera. The visitors of the observatory and educational portal will soon be able to watch the latest astronomical images taken with this camera.
There are many ideas that the Department seeks to apply in order to develop the Astronomical Observatory of education, and will be announced soon.
