First: kindergarten curricula:
Childhood is critical growth and development stage that influence the learning.
The education in this stage of child life is important for the formation and
construction of various dimension of his psychology .The adequate growth of his
sensory, motor, mental, social, emotional, moral and linguistic capabilities
which shapes the personality of the child .This is a basic criterion by which
nation's progress is measured.
The ministry of Education is keen to link the educational process in the schools
with up to date information technology and scientific knowledge in the world.
The ministry persuades a consistent link between the development in the world
and textbooks on the basics of self –learning which depends on self -activity of
the children themselves.
The learning toy is the appropriate teaching method in this stage where children
play and choose the appropriate game that attracts his attention to discover and
learn. The educational playing games and toys are the effective method to
exploit children learning to the maximum in this stage stems from the depth of
the child.
The curriculum concludes:
(1) Teachers Guide:
It is a pack of 6 different subjects of interest to the kindergarten teacher and
those who work in the field of early childhood and parents.
(2) Modules:
Childhood is a golden period for the development of the child and the launch of
his an her energies and creative potential, thus twelve units include
appropriate educational activities and consistent with the conditions and
possibilities for teachers and children and also includes a number of attitudes
and experiences provided to children in order to achieve benefit from, and at
the same time fit with the characteristics of the child's development, needs,
and linked to their environment which they live and deal with it .
The curriculum used is the basic education instrumented to achieve the
objectives of the education process, therefore its components need to be planed,
implemented and evaluated on an ongoing basis and to obtain feedback, a
committee was set up in collaboration with UNICEF to evaluate kindergarten
curricula and develop and keep pace with the age of technology and scientific
inventions, which is the product of mental superiority.
II: training courses:
1-Training Program for the formation of the national team for the training of
kindergarten teachers:
Training activity aimed at developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes of
trainees and trainers in an ambience of collaborative work and team spirit and
self-esteem, and to make positive improvements in their performance and prepare
them to rise to the occasion in hand.
Kindergarten teachers’ preparation strategy carried out by:
A. Provide trainees and trainers with specialized knowledge in the field of
early childhood development in order to contribute to the development of forms
of thinking they have.
B. Change the behavior of trainees and trainers to bridge the gap between actual
performance and the level of performance desired.
C. Equip trainees and trainers with recent information and content developments
in the field of early childhood.
D. Supply trainees and trainers with strategies and training skills to help them
to plan, implement and evaluate training courses.
E. Educate trainees and trainers trends to the positive values that help to
increase their willingness to work, and change of professional conduct for the
better, thus contributing to the achievement of educational goals and
objectives. and promote the work loyalty.
This contributes to the development of work in early childhood sector based on
self-help in the training of teachers who works in this field, choosing an Omani
national team which bears the burden of training in all regions of the Sultanate
and all sectors of work in the field of early childhood.
2-Refresher courses on the application of Oman Developed curricula:
Education is an ongoing process constructed on man development and every
conscious nation considered raising their children a precious wealth and
investment. Education is considered the best type of investment; since the
knowledge is renewed and developed rapidly, the Ministry of Education had to
keep abreast of these latest developments and employment in the field through
the establishment of refresher training that qualifies teachers who is able to
take advantage of modern science and its innovation and access to more cultural
experiences and professional and all that would raise the level of the education
process and increases the productive energies of the teachers and their ability
to contribute in enriching the knowledge of children and their skills through
optimum use of the Oman Developed Curriculum that suits developmental
characteristics of children .To be broad of the program graduated eleven
graduation batches in Muscat and other regions.
3–The supervision Project of childhood houses:
In order to achieve integration, interaction and interdependence among actors
working in this field, the Ministry of Education provided activities for these
houses staff and prepared a training course in the interior region for five
weeks, so the teachers would be able to deal with the approach of Oman Developed
Curriculum to communicate with children and to build a balanced and integrated
personality ,to be self-confident, creative and capable of research and
discovery and able to solve problems.
The Ministry of Education emphasizes the expansion of the care and education in
early childhood and especially for the most disadvantaged families, to ensure
that the learning needs of all young people through equitable access to
appropriate learning and life skills.
The Technical Office in MOE in cooperation with the Department of Private
Schools managed the preparation to create preliminary classes at schools of
basic education in areas that have no access to early childhood educational
services; private and civil trial began last year in the governorate of Muscat
in (Qantab) village. This year the project expanded to include all educational
areas. The technical office is assessing the experiment in order to generalize
the classes in the forthcoming years.
